Schwantek mills custom metal parts for Colorado companies that need brackets, housings, manifolds, and plates cut from solid stock. Send a print or a 3D model and most quotes go out within one business day.
CNC Milling for Colorado Companies
CNC milling cuts metal away from a solid block with a rotating cutter.
It is how most custom metal parts are made. Brackets, housings, manifolds, adapter plates, and mounting hardware all start as bar or plate and end up milled to your drawing.
Schwantek mills these parts in Colorado Springs and ships across Colorado and the rest of the country. We work from a print, a 3D model, a dimensioned sketch, or the worn part in your hand. There is no minimum order, and a single part is a normal order here.
Parts We Mill
These are the part families we mill most often.
- Brackets and mountsFlat or three dimensional, machined from solid stock to your drawing.
- Housings and machined enclosuresPockets, bores, and mounting faces cut to fit the parts they carry.
- Manifolds and ported blocksDrilled and tapped passages machined from bar or plate.
- Adapter plates and base platesBolt patterns, bores, and counterbores cut to match what they mount to.
- Obsolete and replacement partsWe model the part from the one you have and mill a new one.
Milling is one of several things we do. The full list is on our capabilities page, and the order of work is set out in how we work.
Materials We Mill
We mill metal.
Aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys. Tell us what the part has to survive and we will confirm the material on the quote. If you are not sure which one suits the part, we will talk it through before anything is cut.
We Review the Part Before We Mill It
Every part gets a design review first.
We look for the features that drive cost and the features that are hard to hold. Then we tell you what we found. A different corner radius or a thicker wall often saves real money, and it is far cheaper to change on screen than on the machine.
If you do not have a 3D file, we will work together and help create one if necessary. A dimensioned sketch or a photograph is enough to start. Our guide to getting custom metal parts made walks through what to send.
Prototype to Production Milling
One part or a few hundred. The process does not change.
Most jobs start with a single part. We mill it, you fit it, and we adjust the model if the fit tells us something. Once the design settles, the repeat batches come off the same proven program.
With a print or a 3D model, most quotes go out within one business day. A dimensioned sketch or a photograph is enough to start if you do not have a CAD file.
Where Milling Fits in the Job
Milling is one step, and it is rarely the only one.
Some parts need nothing more than a program and a block of aluminum. Others need a model built from scratch, a design review, or a set of components that all have to fit each other. We machine parts like that as a matched set, so the fit is checked before the parts reach you.

Colorado CNC Milling FAQs
More answers are on our CNC machining FAQ.
What is CNC milling?
CNC milling cuts metal away from a solid block with a rotating cutter. The cutter path is driven by a computer program built from your drawing or 3D model. The same program runs again for every repeat part.
What is the difference between CNC milling and CNC machining?
CNC machining is the broad term for cutting metal to a finished size. Milling is one machining process, and it is the one most custom metal parts need.
Do you have a minimum order for milled parts?
No. We mill single parts, small batches, and repeat production runs. A one off part is a normal order here.
What files do you accept for a milling quote?
A 3D model or a dimensioned print is best. A sketch or a clear photograph is enough to start. If you do not have a CAD file, we will help you create one.
Where do you mill parts in Colorado?
We mill in Colorado Springs and ship across Colorado and the United States. Customers on the Front Range can arrange pickup by appointment.
